We are pleased to announce, on behalf of the Faculty Board, that Dr Peter Verow has been elected to fill this year’s vacancy for a universally elected Trustee on the Board. Dr David Brown was nominated unopposed as the representative of the Regional Specialty Advisers. Both appointments commenced at the Annual General Meeting on 19 May 2011 for a period of three years, until the Annual General Meeting in 2014.
Barbara Harrison has joined the Faculty Board as the lay member nominated by the CBI, succeeding Peter Graham. She is Executive Director – Corporate Real Estate for Goldman Sachs, where she is Head of Health and Safety for Europe, Middle East and Africa and accountable for the development of H&S strategy and embedding the approach across operations. After obtaining a degree in Environmental Health, and some years as an Environmental Health Officer, Barbara studied for an MSc in Occupational Hygiene and moved to RHM Ltd as a Safety & Hygiene Adviser before being promoted to Manager HSE and then Acting Head, Risk & Health Management Services. After four years with VT Group, she moved to Goldman Sachs in February of this year. Barbara is a Member of the Institute of Occupational Hygienists and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.
As these three take up their new posts, we would like to record our thanks to their predecessors who are standing down: Mike Gibson, Jeremy Owen and Peter Graham, all of whom have made an invaluable contribution to the Faculty over the last one to six years. We wish them all well.
