The Faculty Board and Society Council have agreed that the two organisations’ annual meetings will be held together on 6-9 July at Manchester Conference Centre. The meeting will encompass the presentations from trainees on their dissertations, with the Faculty’s Annual General Meeting being held on Wednesday 8 July. The presentation of certificates to new Fellows and Members, and of prizes, will be separate from the Annual General Meeting, forming part of a special early evening pre-dinner event on the same date in Manchester Town Hall.
A consistent theme during the membership consultation following the resolution to create a single organisation was the need for the Faculty and Society to work more closely together to avoid duplication of effort and use resources more effectively, and over 50% of respondents in the recent membership survey thought that the provision of CPD conferences and training should be a joint FOM/SOM activity.
Your Board hopes that this year’s combined Annual Meeting will be the first of many successful collaborative events. We would encourage all members, including those who may not have previously been aware of the Society’s Annual Scientific Meeting, to consider attending this event.
The Board will also be holding its July meeting in Manchester during the event.
Registration for the Annual Scientific Meeting will be handled via the Society; booking is not yet available but you can register your interest and find more information on the dedicated ASM website.
Once further information about registration for the conference and dinner is available, we will inform members in the newsletter and on our website.
