Trainee and Deputy Trainee Representatives

(a) Trainee Representative

The Trainee Representative is a key member of the FOM Council. The Council is the FOM committee which considers matters of interest and importance to professionals working in the specialty. The Council is chaired by the Academic Dean and meets on a quarterly basis. The Trainee Representative also attends twice-yearly meetings of both the Specialty Advisory Committee and the Regional Specialty Advisers. The Trainee Representative also acts as the main point of contact for the FOM Examinations and Training Team, assisted by the Deputy Trainee Representative(s) in this aspect of the role.

(b) Deputy Trainee Representative(s)

The Deputy Trainee Representative role(s) offer the additional opportunity to become a member of the Board of the National School of Occupational Health (NSOH) or a member of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges Trainee Doctors’ Group (ATDG). There is also an opportunity to represent trainees on the newly formed NSOH Specialty Training Committee.

Person specification

Applicants must hold trainee membership of the FOM. Appointment(s) will be made with the expectation of completion of a minimum term of 12 months.

Expenses

The roles are honorary; reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out the role(s), including travel to meetings, and will be reimbursed in accordance with the FOM Business Travel and Expenses Policy.
