Good practice articles for GPs
Early in 2012, the Faculty of Occupational Medicine worked with Pulse [2] magazine to commission a series of articles to support GPs in their practice in occupational medicine.
The eight articles, which were published in issues of Pulse during March – June 2012, are all written by experts in their field and intended to be of practical use to GPs in their surgery. They are reproduced on this website as a booklet [3]* and cover:
- Occupational asthma
- Fitness for work after surgery
- Management of mental health conditions that affect, or are caused by, work
- Dermatitis
- Occupational health investigations
- Work related upper limb disorders
- Low back pain
- Careers in occupational health
*A further article, published in March 2013, was written by the Faculty’s Director of Training, Dr Jayne Moore, describing why she chose to pursue a career in occupational medicine. This article is included within an August 2013 update of the booklet.
