Introduction
Understanding work places and work activities is an essential skill for any occupational health professional. The video library contains a number of video clips of work places.
A video cannot replace an actual visit, but it is another source of information. There are many hazards in work, some are safety hazards and some are health hazards. Some videos show more than one health hazard eg. noise and vibration using a jack hammer.
The videos are all from YouTube, they may be preceded by adverts or have some commercial content. The videos can be removed if the owner so chooses, so they may become inaccessible. If you cannot access them, please contact communications@fom.ac.uk [1]
There is a short set of notes with each video, highlighting what the visible health hazards are, along with a summary of any relevant UK Legislation.
Doctors in training will maximise the value if they look at the video and then discuss the activities with their supervisor or educator. The discussion can cover the diseases which may be caused by the hazard, any heath surveillance required and suitable personal protection necessary.
The video library is also available to those candidates studying for CESR qualification, Diploma in Occupational Medicine, Diploma in Occupational Health Practice and also for others who may want revision on certain processes and hazards.

| Description: The first video shows a saturation diver exiting & entering a diving bell and undertaking work on pipelines & equipment. The diver remains under the same pressure in the diving bell and the water.
The second video shows pressurised accommodation for six saturation divers. They remain under saturation pressure (19 atmospheres) for up to 28 days & then undertake gradual decompression lasting 6 days. |

| Tunnelling |
| Description: Tunnelling is the process of making a cylindrical hole through rock. The main health hazard is dust from the rock. (Usually silica)
The video shows TBM used in HS2 construction. The machine is a rotary cutting head at the front which bores the rock and the removed rock is formed into a slurry which is extracted from the back of the machine. The cutting head area is pressurised by air to maintain the fabric of the borehole whilst the machine puts in place concrete supports. The workers may have to enter the pressurised section of the cutting head to maintain/repair. |
