DOccMed

Investing in Occupational Health is fundamental if we want to improve the health of the UK population.  The majority of adults spend a significant amount of time in work and this presents an opportunity to influence people’s health for the better.

The Diploma in Occupational Medicine is designed for medical practitioners who are working part-time in occupational medicine or who have an interest in occupational medicine.  It is most frequently taken by general practitioners who often add to their practice portfolio by providing occupational health services to local companies.

General practitioners (GPs) are normally an employee’s first port of call when they are unable to go to work because of illness or when they think they may have a work-related illness.

Recognising the important part that GPs can play in helping people to stay in work or get back to work, FOM is keen to support GPs by offering qualifications, guidance and education.

In order to qualify for the DOccMed certification by FOM, candidates must complete an approved DOccMed training course and complete both the MCQ and the Oral portfolio assessment within a 5 year period.

Detailed information about the format of the examination can be found in the DOccMed Regulations.
